I'm currently working on a full-length version of my play about the murder of famed actor Sal Mineo. In my research, however, I was surprised to learn of only two stage plays that deal with this Hollywood legend! Below is the list I came up with while "surfing the web." Please let me know of any works I may have missed. Rebel With a Cause-The Sal Mineo Story : Written and performed by Dean Ghaffari, this play was adapted for the Promenade Playhouse in Los Angeles. It was directed by Tom Waters, and it opened on August 11, 2017. This work showed a more vulnerable side to Mineo, and the reviews said that Ghaffari excelled in the role of an Oscar winner who was taken away too soon. Sal : Conceived and co-written by Carlos Gonzalez, this play premiered at the Zephyr Theatre in Los Angeles on July 2, 1992. Other contributing writers included Hector Correa and Richard Talavera.
