Jeffrey Dahmer Onstage

I just had a play of mine produced about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer!  It's a docudrama entitled, "Alcohol and Muscle" and, while researching the work, I came across a series of stage plays based on Dahmer.  As such, here's a grotesque grouping of dramatic works with bite!

*Apartment 213 by Joseph Ritsch:  This play proves to be a successful attempt to make the Jeffrey Dahmer story feel relevant to today's audiences.  Here, Dahmer is shown as a man cast aside when a paralyzing fear of his own sexuality leaves him unable to connect with others.

*The Confessions of Jeffrey Dahmer by Josh Hitchens:  Based on true events, this solo performance puts the audience in a dark basement room alone with one of the most notorious serial killers of the twentieth century.

*feeling by Paul Cameron Hardy:  This play doesn't present Dahmer as a monster.  Rather, it shows him as a traveling companion of sorts to a 29-year-old graduate student struggling to stay afloat after having been dumped by her boyfriend.

*Jeffrey Dahmer is Unwell by Alan Francis and Mike Hayley:  This work is about a 40-something, odd couple whose apartment sharing takes a turn for the worse with one of the roommate's obsession with serial killers.

*A Steady Rain by Keith Huff:  Loosely based on a real-life event involving Jeffrey Dahmer, this show focuses on two policemen who return a young man to a cannibalistic serial killer claiming to be the kid's uncle.

Enter Three Murderers: Three Halloween Stories with a Nod to William Shakespeare

I am thrilled to announce that I've had a play chosen to be performed at Paris Junior College's 10th Annual Pyro Play Festival . This annual short-play festival will take place on the school's campus and run April 23rd through April 27th . There will be other unpublished works produced at the festival, and I am honored to have one of my plays showcased alongside the works of such highly talented playwrights! My play is titled, Enter Three Murderers: Three Halloween Stories with a Nod to William Shakespeare . This "monologue play" tells three separate stories of real-life killers who carried out their gruesome deeds on or about Halloween. In doing so, the audience is shown how their deeds mirror those of three murderers from Shakespeare's plays, specifically Macbeth , Titus Andronicus , and Arden of Faversham . In Scene I, we meet Nancy, a jovial grandmother from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who decides that murdering husbands is the only way she will find true happines...

Stage Adaptations of The Tell-Tale Heart

Most of my readers know I have a stage version of Edgar Allan Poe's classic short-story, The Tell-Tale Heart, published through Next Stage Press.  While putting together this post as a shameless plug for my work, I did a little research and found there are some other great versions of Poe's work floating around out there.  As such, let me turn you on to the following versions: The Tell-Tale Heart adapted by Robert Mason.  Turned mad by the sight of his neighbor's eye, Burke kills the old man and cautiously hides the body.  Despite his cleverness, however, will Burke be able to escape his own insanity?   www.playscripts.com The Tell-Tale Heart adapted Luella McMahon.  A young man plans and commits the "perfect crime."  But when a detective stops by on a quite different manner, the young man finds he is unable to stop the pounding of the dead man's heart.  www.dramaticpublishing.com The Tell-Tale Heart adapted by Paul Millet.  A series o...

Enter Three Murderers

I just finished a play that will have a staged-reading this June!  Enter Three Murderers related the ties that Jeffrey Dahmer, Jay Kelly Pinkerton, and Ronald O'Bryan had to Texas.  The reading will be hosted by Theatre Suburbia and sponsored by Scriptwriters Houston! Enter Three Murderers, Three Plays by Bradley Nies: *Alcohol and Muscles- While stationed in San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey Dahmer meets a male prostitute bearing a resemblance to his first murder victim. *The Lord of Dead Things- While paying dominoes with a prison chaplain in Huntsville, Texas, Jay Kelly Pinkerton confesses to the violet murder and rape of an Amarillo woman. *The Man Who Killed Halloween- After poisoning his eight year-old son on Halloween in Deer Park, Texas, Ronald Clark O'Bryan refuses to admit his guilt to the heinous crime.
